Calling Us

The primary method of reaching us is by calling our Main Number 978-975-3355. For your convenience, you can contact providers and staff directly by sending them a message through MyChart for non-urgent matters.

If you call outside of normal business hours, you will be connected with our After Hours Triage and Paging Service.

Office Hours

Office hours are by appointment only. We have regular day, evening, & weekend hours, which are subject to change.

Holiday Hours

Our providers are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days each year! (page our on-call provider with any urgent questions or problems – 978-975-3355)

Providers are still available to see your children for urgent medical issues, even when the office is closed. Our office is open regular business hours with the exception of the following holidays:

• New Years Day (1/1)
• Easter Sunday
• Monday, Memorial Day
• July 4th
• Monday, Labor Day
• Thursday, Thanksgiving Day
• Christmas Day (12/25)

Emergencies

Genuine emergencies are difficult to define but tend to fall into the categories of

• problems with breathing
• bleeding, or
• consciousness

In a real emergency, life or limb hangs in the balance and every second counts! Fortunately, such situations are rare in childhood. In a true emergency you should always call 911 (or your local fire department or ambulance) and be taken immediately to the NEAREST emergency room. After the situation has been stabilized by the emergency room, however, pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists are the best qualified to provide definitive diagnosis and further treatment for your child. Therefore, always insist that any emergency room physician contact us before sending your child home or making any decisions about treatment, hospital admission or transport.

Many urgent situations are not really emergencies. “Urgent” means something you think shouldn’t wait until morning or until our next office hours to be seen, or something you need advice about right away, but which does not seem immediately threatening to life or limb. Urgent situations are far more common than emergencies in childhood. WHENEVER POSSIBLE IT IS BEST TO CALL THE OFFICE FIRST! One of our providers is always available — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — to give advice or make arrangements for your child to be seen, either by us at the office or by an appropriate pediatric specialist at Children’s Hospital or Mass General Hospital for Children, if needed.

Contacting Us After Hours (for urgent situations only)

If you need to contact us after hours, a pediatric provider from our practice is “on-call” 24 hours per day, every day of the year. We ask that you call during office hours for any questions or problems which are not urgent in nature. During office hours, it is our policy to offer a same-day appointment to all sick children. After hours, if your child has an illness (or you have a question) you feel is urgent, you may have the provider on-call paged. The most direct way of doing this is by simply calling our main office number –  the outgoing voice message will give instructions on how to page the on-call provider.

If you can’t wait any longer, but the situation is not a life-threatening emergency, bring your child to the ER of either Children’s Hospital or MGH in Boston. They will give you good care in accordance with our standards and practices regardless of what the problem may be, and they have other ways of getting in touch with us.

Reminder…

We see sick children 365 days per year.  We offer same day sick visits 7 days a week during our hours of operation.  When you page us after hours our pediatric providers are skilled at deciding how urgently your child needs to be seen.  Unless you are concerned about a life threatening emergency always page us before deciding on visiting an Emergency Room or Urgent Care Clinic.
